This page was intended as a Top 3 Alarm songs page but limiting things to three songs was too difficult so I ended up with a top ten - born from the idea of putting my "perfect Alarm record" together. I narrowed the selection down to ten songs and then gave each one a mark out of five for four different categories
The categories were: Excellence, Nostalgia, Replayability (how often could the song be repeated straight away without me getting fed up) and marks for my reaction on hearing the song initially.
I ended up with ties for 1st, 2nd 3rd and fifth place so in the end I decided on a desert island basis - e.g. If I could bring 1 record what would it be, if I could bring two records etc.
So this is how my top ten favourite Alarm songs shape up:
One Step Closer to Home
Unsafe Building
68 Guns
The Chant
Where were you Hiding
Blaze of Glory
Spirit of 76
Absolute Reality
The Stand
The Deceiver
Not a bad album eh! I was surprised at 68 guns only being 3rd but what the hell. I think what clinched it for the first two was the length of time I had to wait to hear them in the first place and "One Step" should never have been on "Hurricane" it should have been on "Declaration"
I am clearly a fan of the early stuff but I do like a lot of the later material but it just doesn't have the kick that this stuff does. Some of the close finishers were
Change, Howling Wind, Moments in Time, Rescue Me.
If you are really bored or interested this is how my voting went.
