LINKS & STUFF

Okay folks, this is the part of the show where I try to guess or assume that you have something along the lines of the same taste/interests as myself - football excluded. As this is a new site, this particular section will hopefully be updated now and again. At the moment I'm going to include stuff off the top of my head which I think you will enjoy.

Books:

A definite read for any music fan - and I mean any music fan is Ed Jones' book "This is Pop". Written by the bass player from crusty-type band, The Tansads - no I hadn't heard of them either before I read the book! Their claim to fame is that they were supported by such luminaries as The Verve, Cast and Ocean Colour Scene. It is an excellent book which is both funny & sad - as the forward by Alan McGee says "a copy of this book should be sold with every milllion selling album".

Still on the books front I would recommend any of the following  by Joseph O'Connor but particularly "Cowboys & Indians".

Cowboys & Indians - The story of Eddie Virago - the owner of the last mohican haircut in Dublin leaving Ireland to seek work in London in the late eighties -(sounds very familiar to your host )

The Secret Life of the Irish Male - Need I say more...?

The Irish Male at Home & Abroad - follow up to the previous best seller

Sweet Liberty - Travels in Irish America - a very funny book researching how a number of different

"Dublins" in America got their name and their "connections" with the capital of Ireland - funnier than you think

          it might be

True Believers - A collection of short stories that sees the return of Eddie Virago

All of Joseph O'Connors other books are also very good - The Salesman, Inishowen and Desparadoes. Joseph O'Connor is Sinead O'Connors brother - but please don't let that put you off reading some excellent books
